Gay Pride: Cleveland Edition
Yesterday was Pride. I look forward to this day every year because I get to get dressed up all pretty, spend time outside with my two gay husbands, my wonderful actual one, and see people I almost never run into.
The place was packed. Way busier than I had seen it in the past.
I had brought my camera with me this year in hopes of photographing some of the local artists selling their creations, so I could highlight them on my blog. There were some great booths last year. Sadly, this year, there wasn't much besides an HRC booth, an AIDS task force booth, and an Overeaters Anonymous booth.
Boo Cleveland Pride!
But we still had fun. My best friend and his boyfriend brought their dog baby out for the day, and we couldn't go 10 inches without someone squealing "OOOOOHHHHH MY GOOOOOD! WOOK AT THAT WIDDLE DOOWG!"
We even got stopped in the middle of the street so someone could pet her. I guess I would have done the same thing though. She's soooooo cute! Later, she took a dump in the middle of the street which wasn't so cute. But it sure was funny.
I saw some interesting footwear...
And learned how not to load a drag queen into a car...
They set up a beer garden at the back of the park. I was dreading this area. I wanted to enjoy some drinks with my friends, but I remembered from last year that they only had beer. ( Lite beer even. Blech) And I can't have beer. So as I stood in line getting my I.D. checked, I reluctantly decided that one beer wasn't going to hurt me. Then I saw it. Wine! They had wine this year!!! At least Cleveland Pride got that right. Thanks.
We had some drinks, while Baby (The Widdle Dog) made some friends.
The main reason we went however, was to watch my best friend's boyfriend preform. He did a one man acoustic set of originals, and an Ani DiFranco cover. I've never been an Ani fan. I wonder if it's because I'm straight. I think there's a law somewhere that you have to be gay to like her. I'M KIDDING. Sort of. :)
I snapped a pic of some drag queens wishing him luck before he went on.
It's dresses like that, that make me wish I was a drag queen. Somehow, I don't think I could pull of that look as well as she.
I got a candid shot also...
...then he caught me, and posed.
Then he posed again later...
Overall, it was a beautiful day. We were supposed to get rain, but there wasn't even a drop to be found.
Good thing too. I wore my new vintage, pink and white gingham dress. Had I gotten even a bit wet, all of Voinovich Park would have seen my ta-ta's.
And of course I couldn't leave before picking up a souvenir.
I have been eyeballing that shirt for sometime now, and was pleased to see that the HRC still makes them.
Afterward, we went out for some Mexican. I got a tummy ache from too much yummy food, and syrupy margaritas. Which pretty much ended my day.
We had a bunch of fun, and I'm looking forward to next year.
Baby says..."Remember folks. If you don't like gay people, stop having gay babies!"
Woof!
